"Blood Tests"

About: The Royton & Crompton Family Practice

I had to provide blood for a Thyroid and Kidney assessment.

My appointment was for 7.40 am and was seen at 7.30 am.

The Nurse was excellent and there was no bruising as there is usually.

However, at 6 pm I ended up at A&E and didn't get back home until 9 pm.

The sample had haematised, and the potassium level was dangerously high.

Whilst the GP who rang me was excellent and the hospital was also efficient, time was wasted all round as the later tests showed nothing abnormal at all.

Why arrange appointments so early if that will cause issues re samples which then impacts on resources all round?

Thank you for your constructive feedback.

We appreciate patients taking the time to leave their comments.

We are sorry that you have experienced problems on this occasion.

The practice has two collections per day to take blood samples to the hospital and we provide our appointments for blood tests around this collection service.

If you would like us to investigate this further please contact the practice to arrange for the Patient Liaison Officer to ring you back.
