I had waited almost 4 months for an appointment after having an MRI on my lower back earlier this year, to be told that basically there is little that can be done for the excruciating arthritis pain in my hips.
I was offered either a physiotherapy appointment or a cortisone injection directly into the hip. I had an injection last year and it did nothing at all, I swim three times a week, and the consultant had admitted on a previous appointment that physio wouldn’t do a great deal considering this.
I was seen by a registrar, who effectively told me that nothing more could be done as they feel I’m too young for surgical intervention, even though my hip problem is congenital and have suffered pretty much my whole life. So it now boils down to cost in my eyes, as much as I don’t want a hip replacement at the age of 45, the thought of 10-15 further years in pain which is starting to affect my daily life makes me feel very unhappy and isn’t helping my anxiety one iota.
