About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Trauma and orthopaedics

My son visited on 5th May - Kids A&e amazing , best thing ever and staff helpful.

Operation on 6th May all run smoothly and Padua ward so nice and helpful. After service and onwards disappointing. My son needed a fracture appointment in a week of op, I had to chase as no record of it. then at appointment was told very quietly by doctor that needed another operation as didn't work and this would be within 24-48hrs. Again i had to chase next day to be told no record as to when could be weeks, after many calls to various departments, was told would get a call morning of Thurs 16th to advise if on the list. Called me at 9am to advise to be in by 11am ( so my son had not eaten since 7pm night before) went to Padua again awaiting operation sat around until 4pm to be told not happening today. ( the consultant didn't want to tell us so asked a student nurse to do which she refused as its his job) this consultant then told us to stay in over night and be first on the list, so another night of fasting and added to that no sleep, then next morning guess what cancelled again to afternoon appointment, and again no consultant telling us this left to student nurses again.

Amazes me that the consultants get paid what they get and nurses get the brunt of it all.

Today i have had to chase yet another outpatient appointment to have full cast on and what a surprise lost appointment. Hospital itself is nice and certain wards and area are amazing but the main doctors no good, Shout out to all student nurses who are overworked and underpaid they deserve a medal to put up with senior staff shouting orders, large complaint on its way in post
