"Queue at reception desk"

About: Lion Health

The queue at the reception desk very often blocks the entrance and reduces flow in and out of the door. The queue is often for people wanting to pick up a prescription and it would be useful if there were two lines, one for prescriptions and one for those requiring appointments. As the surgery has grown it is becoming apparent that people are turning up at surgery to book appointments because they cant get through on the telephone. I was advised to do this by a member of staff. This should not be necessary and if it is not easy for older people to get there, then this causes unnecessary stress and upset.

Hi, thanks for your comments. We are aware the logistics of the, at times, very long queue in reception is not ideal and as a result we do try to encourage patients to use the self check in screens, manage their prescriptions and appointments online if possible etc. If patients do feel they wish to come into surgery to arrange appointments, we endeavour to address the queue as quickly as possible. We would have to consider the suggestion of having two separate queues, as we wouldn't wish to congest the reception area any further. Thankyou for your suggestion we will take this on board, LH
