"How poor Kent Cancer Care is"

About: The Maidstone Hospital / Kent Oncology Centre

(as a service user),

Before my wife got Cancer, I always believed that Cancer happened to the family next door. So when she was diagnosed with Grade 4 anal cancer. One is placed into a conveyor belt system that seems to need overhauling at every level. The standard of care and information is so poor I think it borders on Criminal, how does an organisation neglect to tell patients or issue full information booklets about side effects. or do the people making these decisions assume the patient is so thick and only worried about surviving to totally disregard everything.

How does an organisation neglect to tell us she might end up with ulcerative colitis from the Radiation treatment.

The Cancer specialists have to look at the whole person. My wife is no longer the outgoing extrovert, She is a shadow of herself in constant pain and unable to function properly. But according to the Surgeons at Maidstone she survived. But does any survival outweigh quality of life?

She dislikes people and just wants to stay in, In my opinion the quality of Cancer care outcomes are so poor they beggar belief.

The treatment offered must be reviewed and a different pathway for each patient and its outcomes properly explained to each patient
