"Can't take it anymore from this surgery."

About: Hendford Lodge Medical Centre, Yeovil

Firstly my doctor here is amazing. But I can rarely get to see her. I have severe depression among other things, and was having a very bad time. No appts for her and I was told to ring up when new dates were added in 3 weeks time. I couldn't even get a phone call. I was offered another doctor sooner (around 4 days) as not classed as an emergency. I ended up self harming. Last month I collapsed in a shop and had to call a friend to drive me home as too dizzy and unable to walk properly. Rang 111 told me to ring doc immediately. Took 40 minutes to get through even though I was only number 12 in queue. Receptionist couldn't promise a phone call anytime soon. Doc eventually rang and he told me to put my feet up and rest. Ended up in A & E having heart monitored and other tests. YDH couldn't believe I wasn't told to come in immediately by doctor. Can't get through on phone would it not make sense to have 2 seperate lines for appts and scripts? I find it thoroughly degrading to have to discuss my medical and mental health issues to a receptionist for them to decide who I can see. They are not qualified but make the decisions as they have been told to. You have to practically beg to get in and then it isn't usually with your doctor. I don't want to go all through my medical history with someone I don't know, it takes forever! All I want is to see my doctor tell her the problem and be out in 10 minutes or sooner. The latest thing is part of my repeat prescription has been questioned by someone (not my doctor)? and it just happens to be my main painkillers so I have been without for 3 days now whilst they try to get another rushed through to my own doctor. I gave up trying to ring and went down myself.I have given up. I have hung on with this practice because of my doctor but will now be moving as it is getting worse despite what replies have been given from the practice "managers". They may be striving to get it right but are failing dismally and getting worse, how much longer do they need? And how many other systems are they going to try? One of the best was "book an appointment in the future for every ailment you have had over 2 weeks just in case you need it" as only emergencys will be seen on the day. If you don't need the appointments then remember to cancel them. I had 4 appointments booked every week just in case! I have stayed this long because of my doctor but I can't take it anymore, the stress and hassle has got too much, I am changing surgerys. I genuinely hope that you have more luck with them. They are taking on even more patients which is mind boggling. These problems are some of the worst I have had with them and are within the last year, they are not one offs unfortunately.

I am sorry to hear you are leaving the practice, here at Diamond Health Group we take all feedback from our patients seriously and regularly review our appointment system to ensure we are offering a wide range of appointments to suit the needs of all of our patients. Sadly with a national GP shortage we may not always be able to offer an appointment at a time most convenient to all of our patients, however our reception team are trained to signpost and supported daily by the Duty GP to give patients appointments that are clinically safe and appropriate based on their presenting symptoms.

If you feel this is not the case I would appreciate the opportunity to investigate your concerns further, if you are happy to do so please submit a complaints form so a formal investigation can take place.
