"A very pleasing experience on a bright Saturday..."

About: St Thomas' Hospital / General surgery

I arrived at Day Surgery on a bright Saturday morning, to be met by a pleasant female receptionist. She handed me over to a very nice nurse who made me feel at ease. I was at ease saying good bye to my son. I went to get changed following all the instructions given to me. Still at ease. Check in was ok. The nurses and Consultant made me feel at ease. My condition gave the consultant anethatist cause for concern as I had high blood sugars and also high blood pressure. I was kept up to date with what was going to happen during surgery. The waiting area was a little cold. I asked for and received a blanket. After surgery I was given two hot drinks and a couple of packs of fresh sandwiches. My son was called to come and collect me in time. My medication did not take too much time to arrive. The nurse was very polite and helpful. Her instructions are a boon to my recovery for which I'm grateful. A very pleasing experience all round of which I am grateful.
