"Debilitating migraine"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / General medicine

(as a service user),

I was in Treliske because I had suffered from a stroke style very debilitating Migraine

The sister in Ward 5 was extremely kind and clever. She helped me get home to Plymouth when I was stranded in Truro. A friend volunteered to drive me from the hospital to home in Plymouth. I had short notice to fit in with him. She rushed round to get me discharged so that I could go. She was very efficient in all matters during my stay. I especially appreciated her recognising the fact that I was disorientated and not "myself ", even though she didn't know me. I want to thank her.

The ward health care assistant was lovely to myself, a person with no visitors or support. Thank you to her and the catering people.

On my arrival at the triage area the trainee Dr. and Dr. Williams were both cordial, efficient and kind.

A nurse in a navy blue uniform in the initial unit attempted to take my blood pressure.. which was more painful than when taken by any other nurse. They attempted to do it 8 ! yes eight consecutive times saying that they couldn't see it. They left the machine still working and painfully attached to me when they walked out of the room.  When they had been gone a long time I removed it. I expected a telling off when they returned but they ignored it. They were busy arranging time off with a person in a red uniform.

The paramedics were re assuring and lovely girls.

Treliske is too busy for it's own good, but the staff rush round to try and get everything done. Thank you to them all.

Dear KCD19,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us, and please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you on here. I would love to share your feedback with the appropriate staff but I'm finding it difficult to identify where you were as an inpatient at the hospital as we do not have a 'ward 5'. If you could reply to this message with the ward name I would be very grateful.

Best wishes,

Jess
