I have attended this clinic on a number of occasions following my surgery which has placed me in surgical menopause - I am now 4 years post surgery.
I have a complex history - a rare heart condition and severe migraines for which I am treated by the QEUH Neurology Department. I am desperate for input regarding suitable HRT as my symptoms continue to be severe from the Consultant. But my last 3 appointment spanning 18 months (they are 5 to 6 months apart due to a lack of appointments) l was seen by either an intern or registrar and told to 'persevere' with patches which I told them I was having difficulty with - they simply will not stay adhered to my skin no matter what I do.
I have tried gel HRT, and this causes very erratic estradiol levels which exacerbates my migraines. Subsequently, I have now been another 18 months without any relief from my symptoms. This Consultant is always either absent from clinic or is busy when I attend, and therefore cannot see me.
I am at my wits end, as I really am struggling. I have no idea how to access the help I so desperately need, and thought that this clinic was for women such as myself who have complex issues. I am in total despair, as this is having not only a huge impact on my life but also that of my Husband and son (my son has autism) as I simply cannot function to any decent level in life since this surgery with these dreadful menopause symptoms. I suffer between 20 and 25 severe hot flushes per day, some of which have made me pass out and on occasion have become so dehydrated from sweating that it has triggered a severe migraine, and I have had to receive inpatient hospital care for rehydration via IV.
Surely there must be some help available for me?
