I was out driving with my son, who is only 6 weeks old when all of a sudden I started to experience intolerable pain in my upper abdomen and started to vomit profusely. I parked safely and dialled 999. I was, by this point, hysterical for my son's safety as I felt that I was going to pass out. The call handler stayed on the phone to me and an ambulance arrived in minutes. On arrival, the female paramedic tended to my crying baby and the male paramedic tended to me and my pain. They were an amazing force of calm and getting done what needed to be. I was in hospital in no time at all.
On arrival to hospital I was serviced at an extremely busy A&E. I was processed quickly and my doctor made time to laugh with me and calm me as well as discuss my symptoms and how best to treat me. Following an ultrasound scan, it was determined that I had gallstones and was scheduled for emergency surgery. I ended up being in hospital for 4 days as there was an issue with my liver discovered in surgery. I was extremely emotional being away from my children as I was still breastfeeding my baby boy. Staff were so accommodating and lovely to me. The level of care was extraordinary. I feel so proud of the NHS and of my local hospital providing the care they do.
