"From despair to having a bright future."

(as a service user),

6 months ago my life changed completely. I felt hopeless and couldn't imagine a way out of the deep hole I found myself in.

I'd never had any form of counselling before and admit to being sceptical but my situation was overwhelming and I made the decision to reach out.

Honestly for the first two weeks I was a complete mess. I cried and rambled, just talking it all out. My counsellor Steve was fantastic, I cannot praise him highly enough. He listened and understood me. Over the following weeks he advised, encouraged and supported me. I was made to feel that I was deserving and left each session feeling stronger.

The anxiety I had about the situation I was in gradually lessened and my confidence grew. I'm now moving on with my life with coping strategies and a renewed self esteem.

Stories from others helped me to make that step to ask for help in the first place and I'm so glad I did.

I loved your story. It felt so joyous!!

Yu also mentioned how helpful reading other peoples stories had been for you, so now your story will join those that continue to help others........

It is SO powerful when you realise that other people have also suffered similar situations to your own. Then, through their own efforts, found the right help and support to develop new ways of coping and understanding.

We learn to share hopefulness........and provide a little extra energy.......

Thank you so much for sharing your story - I know many other people will draw confidence and inspiration from it.
