"Foot and Ankle Triage"

About: Leamington Spa Hospital

I was walking quickly while playing golf and tore my achilles tendon on the 2nd April and then did further damage as the result of a trip on the 21st April. I started physio on the 24th April. The physio asked if I could arrange, through my doctor, to have an ultra sound scan as she was concerned to know the extent of the damage and why I was getting pain in a different place to the swelling on my ankle., but not where the swelling was. I visited my doctor who said that she would request an urgent ultrasound scan. I received a letter on the 10th May to attend the SWIMS Clinic. I assumed this would be a triage followed by the scan. I was appalled to be told that the actual scan would not take place for approximately 6 weeks. This seems an unacceptable wait as the longer the delay the less value the scan becomes.
