Mother in law was taken to hospital following a fall at home two weeks ago. We assume she had an infection but do not know. Yesterday and today I have been on the phone for hours trying to get through to get an update on my mother in law's condition following a call yesterday from her social worker to say that she will be discharged today. First tried yesterday evening from about 7pm to find out if she is definitely being discharged today, no answer from ward for several hours. So tried several times again this morning and no answer! Operator was very polite, sympathetic and as helpful as she could be trying all different numbers but none answered not even the mobile number that the operator has to contact! Not sure who's to blame but the communication on all levels from this hospital is disgusting. Last week I had a surreal conversation with a nurse who said my mother in law was very poorly so I asked what was wrong with her, did she have an infection? She replied I don't know? so I asked why do you think she is ill then is she nauseous, in pain what? she said "I don't know what's wrong but she didn't want to get up and sit in the chair" this was the only answer I was given!!
"Communication is dreadful!"
