"Parking Chaos"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital

Whoever thought the barrier system would work at a hospital where you need to get there 45 minutes before your appointment in order to get a parking space. What happens if you cannot find a space? Do you still have to pay if you have driven round for ages and still not able to park.Disabled people forced to travel far longer than they are able in order to get to an appointment are then forced to travel to the multi storey car park to get a refund for monet they should not have had to pay for the extra hour free. This stupid scheme is adding to the parking chaos, pain, distress and the pollution. Patients are not even told to expect problems in their appointment letter information.

Thank you for your comments. I would like to reassure you that if patients and visitors cannot find a car parking space, the barrier system allows them to leave the car park without charge for up to 30 minutes.

I have shared your comments with the Car Parking Manager for his information.

Kindest regards

Rebecca Pilling, Quality Improvement Facilitator: Patient Experience.
