"Good people but Infrastructure and management..."

About: Watford General Hospital

Gade Ward:

Toilets constantly dirty or broken, I was scared to put my clean clothes down anywhere.

My ward was quarantined for flu and two builders were in taking down a ceiling tile and strip lighting at the end of my bed, with no cover or sheeting and dust was on my bed (have video).

I had sepsis and my mid day antibiotic drip was forgotten. The food I ordered was only right once in 7 days. The cleaner banged a chair against my canular as he was cleaning the next bed and did not look at what he was doing, the assistant nurse pulled an obs machine from next to my bed only it was plugged in and knocked the fan on top of me. I folded a tissue and left it next to the toilet and it was there 9 hours later.

My canular came out during the night an had to wait a few hours to get someone to put a new one in. When they did I stated that it was hurting and not in properly I was right as the fluid was running down my arm and I was left badly bruised. 9have photo) This sounds like a nightmare and it was and since then I have had to visit my mum in Croxley ward and it is just as bad. The nurses do their best but it is hard to find a consultant to speak to and the infrastructure is terrible and parking is terrible and you have to pay and it looks like it has never been resurfaced or road markings done in years. I have also been waiting for an appointment to renal after having a swollen infected kidney that led to sepsis and I have a horseshoe kidney that is basically one kidney. I am still in a lot of discomfort and when I rang to ask when my appointment is, I was told he only does two days a week and decides which patients he wants to see, which tallies with the fack my mum has stage 5 kideny failure and he has not seen her either!!!! do you only have 1 part time kidney specialist that diagnoses without seeing the patients. You could not write this honestly. I have the utmost respect for doctors nurses and support staff, but this is a breakdown in the system that I will be raising with the BMA and Richard Harrington MP as people should be treated with respect and in a clean safe and professional environment. I can evidence everything I have stated and I even reported the toilets to the consultant when I was in hospital.
