"Dont bother, it will only make your mental..."

About: Shepway Community Mental Health Team

I honestly haven’t good thing to say about Ash Eton. As someone thag bas struggled with poor mental health since a very young age, I’ve been passed around to different services because nobody has been able to offer the correct level of care. I finally ended up wish Ash Eton last year after a suicide attempt and was given the diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder. I was told that I would be put on their waiting list for the STEPPS group program. This was such a relief for me as I felt like I was finally getting somewhere. Finally some help! A year later I was offerered a place on the program and was due to start within the next couple of weeks, I was told that the program would be every Thursday. My case worker (I won’t bother disclosing names) had given me the wrong date! The letter for the first session arrived on the day of my appointment (on a Tuesday) so I had essentially missed the introductory session and as someone with severe social anxiety, this was a big deal for me. There was then a week break and I was told the correct day to come in but ended up getting fixated on “every Thursday” and missed the second session. I tried explaining to Ash Eton that this was simply a mistake due to my poor mental health at the time and not because I didn’t want to be on the program. I was then told by the program leader that I’ve been removed from the program and will be put on the waiting list for the next one (which could possibly take up to another year!) this is borrowed time... I then received a letter in the post today to say that I’ve been discharged from Ash Eton and passed back to my GP. After several years of waiting for support and this is how I’ve been treated. I’m beyond disbelief and can’t believe a service that is supposed to provide support would do this to a vulnerable person. Please, don’t go here. Get in touch with Mind and get support from people that actually care.
