I feel I need to write regarding my disappointment on level 7 of the above mentioned now operating outpatient self check in system. I have been attending for various treatments on this floor for the past 3-4 years. The receptionist is very much missed in my opinion. I've had several reasons over the various appointments that I've needed the 'human contact'.
My recent appointment where it was my first experience of the self check in I noticed there were patients in need of the receptionist. There is a notice that says if you have difficulty checking in then see the receptionist, but there is no receptionist to see. Patients don't realise that you have to go downstairs to find the reception that will deal with your problem, and I feel that you are then wasting your appointment time. Patients travel from far and wide to attend and don't always have the extra time to allow for. I feel that it's also left the waiting area very dreary and unsociable, the wall at reception has now been painted Black! When the receptionist was there conversations are made and the feeling of safety and reassurance, especially if your nervous about your treatment.
Are we losing all to technology? Please bring back the much missed receptionist!
