"Variable care after a mastectomy at Royal Alexandra"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Ear, Nose & Throat Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Surgery (wards 19, 20, 24, 26 &29)

(as the patient),

I was in Royal Alexandra Hospital for mastectomy and reconstruction.

I was very scared, and really thought the care I received could have been a lot better. I found some, not all, of the nurses uncaring towards me. I was very vulnerable.

The surgeon and her team were excellent, as were most nurses in HDU but I had an awful experience in Ward 29. It didn't help that ward closes weekend. Though the care we had in ent. ward was amazing, especially has they had little knowledge of breast cancer care, they just cared!!

Thank you for your feedback, I was sorry to read your less positive comments and I will pass these and your more positive comments on to those responsible for the management of these facilities.

Once again thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide your feedback, it is appreciated.

I also hope that you have gone on to make a full recovery following your surgery.

Paul
