"In general, excellent and sympathetic care"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

What I liked

I have been treated both as an outpatient and inpatient in this hospital. In general the nursing care is fantastic, most people are very kind and sympathetic during some unpleasant procedures. It is not a huge hospital and signs are good. I found the food extrememly good when I was on the wards, and hygiene and cleanliness are also very good.

What could be improved

I have found some consultants and other doctors to be lacking in any sympathy/empathy. You are treated as a range of sypmtoms not a person. My questions were not properly answered, and assumptions were made about me. I felt quite intimidated on my recent visit. I am awaiting referral to a different consultant.

Anything else?

Keep the excellent nurses and doctors, but some could do with extra training in patient care.
