About: Heatherwood Hospital

What I liked

I had a complex hip replacement operation and was in hospital for four days following the operation. All the staff, from Consultant, medical and nursing staff to the people bringing round cups of tea and biscuits, were pleasant, efficient and caring. Great care was taken on admission to explain things to me and it was as good an experience as undergoing a major operation could be. I felt valued and cared for all the way through. The physiotherapy and occupational therapy staff were also excellent. The environment was quiet and the outlook from the ward pleasant and peaceful. The food was better than I had expected. Overall I admired the professionalism of the staff and felt that the atmosphere was just as it should be.

What could be improved

It is a pity that to get to X-ray and to theatres the patient has to be wheeled outside, but great efforts were made to ensure that this was not a bad experience. The porters were kind, helpful and amusing.

Anything else?

I would choose to be a patient in this hospital if it were ever necessary for me to be admitted again.
