I was fast tracked to the hospital due to being anemìc. The consultant advised a colonoscopy and endoscopy. I received a phone call advising of a cancellation for the colonoscopy the next dày if i was interested. I accepted the appointment for 1.15 the next day. I was advised not to eat òr drink after 7am, i mentioned the iron tablets and was told it was ok to continue taking them. When speaking with the nurse i ws asked what medication i , the nurse asked when I had last taken them, i said 6.30 in the morning. The nurse checked and said the procedure couldn't go ahead because I should have stopped tablets, i said why i had not been advised ìn the phone call, the nurse said it states in the leaflet and did i not read it! The leaflet says warfarin and the nurse would advise at the pre assessment when to stop taking it. My pre assessment is not for another 2 days.
I struggled to get time of work short notice and it cost me £11 to get to and from the hospital and all for nothing as now i have to do it all again. The hospital has all the information inmy records so i feel let down by the hospital for not advising me not to take mý blood thinners forthwith
