"From Doctors to Harlands ( my own experience)"

About: Heartlands Hospital

I’m never ill (we’ll not really🤔) so going to the doctors and been told to go to A&E just to be certain was unusual.

Well I didn’t need to be told twice 🤔 and was given a letter to explain.

On arrival at A&E I handed over the letter and was told to go to ward 11 and hand it in there. While waiting in the waiting room watching tv, the tea trolley came in which I thought was nice but sadly I was told not to have anything till I had been checked out 😳😩. I got called so I followed (as you do 😳) I got checked out, my temperature was high, as well as what I had gone in with ( I suppose one goes with the other) then a little wait in the waiting room before I was called through to be examined.

After this I had to wait to be examined by a neurologist, she was very nice, after her examination she told me I would be staying in as she wanted me to go on an intravenous drip of antibiotics. The original nurse who checked my temperature and all the other bits and pieces I have to be checked, asked me if I’d like something to eat as I hadn’t eaten all day, she also got me a pair pyjamas as I had nothing with me 🤔.

How nice is a ham sandwich 🥪 when your starving 👍 It’s funny watching a bed being brought in from somewhere else in the hospital to be cleaned and made up fresh for me (thank you).

A ward nurse came and checked my temperature etc and was told they needed to scan my bladder once I had been to the toilet so we had to wait!

I fell asleep even thought it’s a busy ward with people coming and going, I woke up around one o’clock needing the loo so I went and walked over to the nurses station and the nice nurse that had booked me in at the beginning, told me to go back to my bed 🛏

On going back, someone had changed my blankets and my pillow covers ( how nice ) I’d like to say I’m hot stuff 🤣😂 but I’m more like a sweaty (person🤔?) my bladder was checked and I was told they would move me to a quieter ward if one come up ?

About 2.30 in the morning I was woken up and moved to ward 5 bay 4 bed 3.

Had my checks and sleep time, 6.45am I was woken up for my temp etc and then breakfast, every one was so nice and I can understand why lots of the staff have worked there for years.

Lunch came and for mass production food it was nice and a choice of three dishes.

It’s great to have pudding when your not used to it 🤔🤔 why do people complain? It’s Free and you don’t leave a tip (just a thank you👍) some people are just born complainers !

I’m in business and if one of my staff do not turn up (or if I had a shortage) I have to go back on the tools but in something as big as the NHS it causes hold ups further down the line ? All the staff in ward 5 were lovely as well. After my final checks I was told I could go home to recover 🥳🎊👍 I would like to thank the NHS and all the staff for my stay in your hands Thank You 👏👏👏
