Am 65 yr old lady with different health issues, inclouding stomach and heart problems. After phoning 111 was taken to the a&e with severe middle chest pains.Raised blood pressure. Was given treatment and pain relief by kind paramedics,on arriving things had settled a little . After only brief examination, still in pain, was told to go to medoc. My husband said this was not appropriate,we have attended medic before and they did not even offer pain relief stating they had no morphine. After much discussion were told to wait in a seated area, remember, was in severe pain, after three hours was forced to ask for pain relief, which a kind nurse got for me.Was moved to a different waiting room eventually seen by a doctor, then a senior who went through my different illnesse a nd wanted to send me home still in pain, with no offer of pain relief. The kind doctor could see I was in distress and asked if I would like to stay in to get the pain under control, this gave me great relief .After a 20 hour wait two more doctors came to see me prescribed omeprazole and sent home.Agreed my pain had abated little was told ,it was probably a recurring stomach ulcer. But no tests asked for,how do they know if it’s bleeding possibly. The nursing staff and doctors were very kind ,except for a one who insisted I wet to Medoc. We know the a&e is horrendously busy, but a 65 year old in great pain should not have to sit in a hard seat all night 20 hours, after being promised a bed and appropriate treatment even if only for 24 hrs.and then dismissed and sent home.Am a member of the foundation trust and have pride in the hospital but this system being currently used in the a&e at the moment is not working for people who are medically ill,it’s a total disgrace to be left in pain at 65yrs.oldfor 20 hours ina uncomfortablehard seat.Absoulutely inappropriate Medway hospitalthis system needs to be overhauled.
