Having had osteoarthritis in my knees for some years, I recently experienced a sudden worsening in my right knee and a feeling of instability.
I was referred to the MSK team at the hospital by my GP.
Whilst trying to explain to the doctor what my problem was, he informed me that I was wrong, that I only had minor OA changes in my left knee as shown by an X-ray in 2007.
I explained that I had had arthroscopic lavage and debridement in both my knees in 2007 in Basingstoke Hospital and that I had been told there were serious cartilage changes in my right knee.
The doctor behaved as though I was delusional and reiterated that there was nothing wrong with my knees, despite the fact that I clearly have arthroscopy scars on both knees.
Following a cursory and painful examination of my knees, he said I just need some physiotherapy.
I do not feel I was taken seriously or had a suitable explanation of why I have suddenly gone from being able to walk a few miles each day in reasonable comfort to not being able to walk across the room.
"Cursory examination from dismissive staff."
