I cannot praise the staff more at the QUEH - I had to wait nearly a year between my operation and the original accident but my experience of day surgery was great.
It’s a quick and effective service on the day, they keep you informed if anything is running a little late or not as expected. I had lovely staff all day that made me feel at ease and happy to chat about life in general while treating me as as well. I was made to feel like it was about me and not just running through their jobs.
I particularly want to praise the staff in ward 10A - once I got to the ward my nurse came round and I asked when I might be able to go home, she said that they like to keep people for around 3/4 hours after a general anaesthetic. I explained that I had an 11 month old at home and would really like to be home to put her to bed, not only did the nurse do that for me but she ensured that physio was round to see me ASAP and that everything was done by 6pm so I could get home for my little one.
The coffee and toast was much appreciated too as I was in the ward after lunch time!
