"A very positive experience over a very stressful week"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Children's Ward Forth Valley Royal Hospital / GP Out of Hours

(as a service user),

I am a member of staff in the hospital myself, my daughter was really unwell at home and had to bring her into ED, from start to finish everyone was so professional and caring, we were seen very quickly and efficiently at triage by staff nurse Jess, then Dr Dorothy who was fantastic with my 4 yr old daughter, we felt so well looked after, we then got admitted to paeds who were also fantastic (staff nurse Sharon and co), we got home in the middle of the night , then I ended up with same viral bugs as she had and was at OOH on the sunday seen by Dr Mair who was great. Hope we don't ever have to use the services much but that was a very positive experience over a very stressful week. thanks again.

Dear Nurse H

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback.

What an upsetting time for you and your family. It is such a scary and overwhelming time for any parent to have their child unwell and in hospital, being a member of staff wouldn’t have made it any easier.

It is great to hear that everyone from ED to Children’s Ward looked after your little girl so well, giving her the care she needed. She would have been very frightened too.

It must have been a great relief when your daughter got home but then to take unwell yourself and have to attend OoHs, what a stressful time as you say!

I will share your posting with Sharon and the team. They will be delighted to read it and I know will want to pass on their thanks and also their best wishes to your little girl. I am sure ED and OoH’s will also be really pleased with your praise too.

I hope both yourself and your little girl are on the road to recovery and are getting lots of TLC at home!

With best wishes

Gail

Dear NurseH,

Many thanks for taking the time to post about your experience in ED. It is very worrying when children are unwell. I am delighted to hear your experience was such a positive one and hope you are both now recovering.
