Had a meeting with a vascular doctor for my partner who I am the sole carer for. The doctor only had a small amount of information that he needed to pass on to use that day. It was the first such meeting since my partner was discharged from QMC 4 weeks ago. However, I do not wish to criticise a service which is free & life saving, hard working and wonderful. I am grateful for everything the NHS & all its staff do for my partner but: the doctor presumably had such a busy schedule & heavy workload that he did not even have time to sit down during this very important meeting with my partner & myself. I believe this is the fault of the government who are stretching NHS services beyond reasonable, safe or responsible levels. Next time we have a meeting with the vascular doctor i want that doctor to have more time available to him to sit down & take the time to really communicate better with us, to be more thorough & to allow me to ask questions & for him to ask me questions to check my understanding of my partners condition & situation. Because the truth is that from admission to hospital & during this meeting no single doctor has fully explained to me what my partners condition is. This has caused me an extreme amount of anxiety because I do not know or understand what is going on. I am a sole carer for my partner. I am completely alone, I have no family & a small support network here because I was not born in Nottingham. I get no breaks and at home if something comes up for my partner: if he gets a cold, if he experiences pain or there is a problem with his medication; then this is all on me & me alone. I am not a trained nurse. I frequently ring NHS 111 to ask for advice. But I really, really need the doctors at the treatment centre to explain my partners condition to me more clearly please, to help me to understand & to reduce the massive amount of anxiety I have. There is very good reason for me to have this anxiety. Please help me more next time. Thank you very much.
