"Dreadful. Avoid if you have mental health issues"

About: Ferrybridge Medical Centre

I ran out of my anti-depression medication over Easter. Ferrybridge sent my prescription to my pharmacy as normal but it was rejected without me knowing. That part was not Ferrybridge's fault. However after 5 days without medication, I was struggling horribly with suicidal thoughts so needed an emergency prescription to tide me over. The receptionist my husband called refused and said to just wait a few days as she was sure it'd turn up. When you want to kill yourself, you can't just "wait a few days". We then drove over to speak to someone in person, and again the receptionist said to wait for the prescription. At this point I could no longer cope and broke down in tears in front of a full waiting room. My husband had to actually ask if we should just wait for me to kill myself and, unfortunately, had to raise his voice to get any sort of recognition that they were asking someone at risk of killing themselves to go away and wait. I finally spoke to someone in the prescription department who was incredibly unsympathetic and again told me to wait. When my husband said he wanted to complain, we spoke to the reception manager who AGAIN said to wait a few days for the prescription. When my husband asked her what we should do if I try to kill myself, she laughed nervously and said "I'm sure it won't come to that" then suddenly changed her mind. I was finally given a prescription for 4 tablets. They put me through all that for a prescription for 4 tablets. The only thing they were bothered about was telling me it was out of their hands as they'd sent the prescription. Not that they had a suicidal woman in front of them who they did not want to help. Absolutely atrocious service, you could have killed me yesterday. I am in the process of writing to my MP and a number of other organisations to ensure other people who find themselves in a similar situation don't have to beg for medication. I should also point out that had I gone home and waited, I would've been waiting for nothing as they didn't check my prescription until the 3rd or 4th person. Every single person I spoke to yesterday should be ashamed of themselves, your lack of respect was disgusting.
