"Want answer why we treated like this"

About: Dovecot Health Centre Liverpool Womens Hospital

(as a relative),

Our story has been started in 2016 when our 2nd daughter born. We were always patience with the Liverpool women hospital but this time we had enough and I want to give a voice for this kind of treatment.

On the BIG day we run to the hospital ward and waited to our time. We were ready to the C-section since everywhere we have told we want to give a birth with C-section. Our first daughter had complication at the birth and they did emergency C-section on my wife to save their life.

The main doctor was nice and come to tell us (this moment we were already in one of the patience room and my wife has periodical pain already) He would never put her wife under this hard and complicated operation when she could have the natural birth option too. I want to highlight that we said all time to every person we want to do C-section. (Understand that the cost of the operation approx 4thousand but that’s why we pay NI and all the Tax to not care all of this when we need to use the service)

So he has kept us waited for 1 and a half day until our baby`s heartbeat started to skip periods. Suddenly they had free theatre and did the operation with success. Then they took her under some ultra light because of she has yellow skin. When we went to visit our baby the doctor was arguing with the nurse about they did put our baby under too strong light and she get a bit burned because of the over heat and they decrease the light to half…

Our story continue in oct 2018 when - after 3-4 weeks try to get rid of the pain time- my wife decided to report the problem to our GP since it has been there for a long time. Can’t say enough about it is almost impossible to get appointment with Dovecot GP since you have 30 minute from 8.00to 8.30 to book you time for the day when you call since they DO NOT TAKE FUTURE DAY APPOINTMENTS.. If you cant book till this time the answer is always : sorry we are full and please try to book tomorrow.

Trust me We do not want to go to waste anybody`s time instead of work and earn money but sometimes you really need to use the service what you pay for every single week. (and yes I can prove it with 6 years payslip)

So after many-many time spent at the doctor because we were asking hard he sent my wife to scan when they realize she has Cyst on left side and SOMETHING else on the right side where the C-section cut started on her tummy. (pelvic pain) So we were sent to specialist in Women Hospital who said we have to wait 3 months. If nothing getting better they do the operation (which type if you have no clue whats wrong??) straight as soon as possible.

My question is what will happen in 3 months what not happened in the last 6 months, and what makes things better in the next 3 months if you do not even treat her…

Her pain develop more in the 3 months period what they given. She cant work now. She skipped many-many day because of the pain. Really lucky she has a good workplace ( I don’t know if I can mention the name so I don’t). They give her support and put her to easier side of the job and every time when she could not do her job they let her go home without any consequences. She can not lift heavy things and even our daughter is a challenge to her now.

When she went to scan again they said the cyst just disappeared. Maybe but the staff member scanned her in middle of my wife`s stomach instead of left side. We are not doctors so maybe trust them…

The 3 months gone now and after the visit with the specialist they straight refer her with emergency to operation (want to highlight we/they still do not know what is the problem). She had extra medicine against the pain which cause her allergic reaction so they give her another medicine which made her week and miserable. Painkiller on type of problem what nobody knows what cause..

Late April was her appointment when she has to go to the Admission and Discharge Lounge on the 2nd floor. She could not eat anything after 7.00 am and cant drink anything after 11.00am. After wait there 6 hours she called me to take her home because they cancelled her operation! Sorry what??!!

They has been told to her they had delay and in the last 3 women she is the less emergency??!!

other lady has spiral removing. Yes it could be more important then a women who has problem from nobody know what and why and got no other chance then the operation to search what 3 things can cause the trouble. At the reception the person asked 3 times on the phone if anybody get cancel so they can release anybody but has no answer.

So an emergency operation got cancelled with a sorry we place you to 1st place on the waiting list. Please hold your phone with you since we can call you anytime in the next 2 weeks and let you know when your operation will be! Really nice!

Lets not play the we are foreigners card and why not treated like others card but we paid almost 200 pounds for my wife`s mother fly ticket to give us hand with the girls till my wife get better – Who will pay for another ticket if she need to come back?? --and I should work to cover all the expenses what we are loosing in this period. Her salary in the first week Zero then 30% of her real weekly payment for the next 120hours on sick pay. Since she cant work in this condition after we have what?? Now lost 1 week and who know how many more until they are ready to do the emergency operation on her and examine what is the real problem. And just can hope they will sort the problem out?! Also my mother in law will go back in a week and work in her Home Country where she lives.

So we were left here without any fix appointment without any help and also moneywise trouble what we should sort out by our strength. What’s the cost for the disappointment and depression what this hospital cause in 2nd time to us and what’s the security they will not do it again with the next appointment?? Want answer why this can happen??!!

Thank for raising your concerns via Care Opinion. We welcome all feedback as this gives us a chance to address the concerns people have and work with them to find solutions.

I can see from our PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) contacts that you have raised these concerns to us directly on the evening of Wednesday 24 April 2019 via email. One of our Patient Experience Officers contacted the patient on Monday 29 April 2019 to discuss what action she wanted to address these concerns and the required information and advice to do this was provided. I am sorry if she did not feel this was adequate and we are more than happy to continue to work with her to find a solution to any issues she feels are outstanding.

We did provide the patient with direct contact details for the team for us to review her concerns in more detail at her convenience if she felt this was necessary. Should the patient wish to discuss these matters further she can still contact our PALS team on 0151 702 4353 or via email on PALS@lwh.nhs.uk and we can take this forward for her.

Regards

Kevin Robinson
