I came into the hospital for a planned cesarean section. The team carrying out my operation where amazing they supported me and my partner throughout offering constant reassurance even when things went a little pear shaped. After our son was born it became clear he was struggling with his breathing, the decision was made to move him to special care, again the staff were really supportive of us. I was worried i couldn't go with him but they wheeled my bed down so i could see him, as soon as we were both stable they enabled us to have skin to skin, they helped me express so i could feed him. We were kept informed constantly by the team of nurses on special care. I was moved to a side room close to special care and once able my son joined me for the rest of our stay. In total we spent 5 days on the unit split between special care and maternity and all of the staff were beyond amazing. I don't feel able enough to put into words how grateful we are to the hospital and the staff and wanted to thank them all for what they did for us.
