10 days ago I had an appointment for a stated specific injection. I was kept waiting for 30 minutes, then the nurse told me she could not give me this injection due to age guidelines - reception were aware of both my age and the injection I required at time of booking the appointment. I was told to make an appointment with a GP - 10 days time was the earliest I could get. Again I was kept waiting for 30 minutes only to be told again that I could not have this injection due to my age, although another GP had told me previously I should come back for it due to an underlying condition - they didn't have the vaccine at that time. I had also previously been told I needed a review of that underlying condition in February 2019, but heard nothing, so asked about that at my appointment today. The GP at today's appointment was uncertain when the review was due but said a review of all patients was being undertaken at the moment and I would be notified in due course. The waiting times are unacceptable - when I arrived at the surgery this morning there was a woman there who had already been waiting for some time and was in great pain, and a mother with two young children - parents are told to keep their children quiet and stop them running around, but when appointments are running so far behind, it would seem to be a very difficult thing for them to do. I don't know how many GPs were actually working today, but to be running so late by 10am it would seem there were too few.
