"Staff in A&E"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

Was in a& e on a Friday night so I expected it to be busy which it was. Care we received was ok but it was the attitude of the nursing staff in the minors area of a& e speaking loudly about patients to the point I could hear a few full names of patients and why they were in (where’s the patient confidentiality? )

While we were sitting in an interview room which was getting used as a waiting room once people were triaged so room was really busy, I witnessed one patient being given shockingly undignified support while they were waiting. Also there was a patient who was difficult yeah but was clearly having a mental health crisis but they were spoken about and judged by staff in a way that other patients can hear their full conversations. I am in healthcare myself and I thought you were to be non judgemental? ? Well one nurse in particular was very judgemental and loud when talking about patients.

My first time in a& e in QUE and I am shocked at the way staff were acting.

Dear Lx

I am sorry to read about your visit to the Emergency Department.

Our patients should be treated with dignity and respect and I am sorry that this was not what you experienced. Please be assured I will share your feedback with senior staff at the hospital and ask that they respond to the issues you have raised.

Kind Regards

Nicole
