I had an accident yesterday that meant i needed some emergency treatment. I was really quite nervous and scared about what would happen and even whether I'd be treated, but i can't sing the hospital's praises enough. I turned up at 6.15am, to maximise my chances of being seen and there was only one person there already, by the time the doors opened at 7.45, there were 10 of us. There's a clear 'first come, first asessed' system in place, with triaging starting at 8.45 and treatments from 9am, and everything ran like clockwork. The radiographer was great, she talked me through exactly what she was doing and why, then developed the xrays whilst i watched and explained to me what she was looking at. The dentist also described all the suggested treatment in detail and made me feel as relaxed as I could. I had a trainee dental nurse who was still learning the ropes, she seemed to get plenty of support and guidance and the other staff were very patient with her. Treatment itself seemed surprisingly quick, thorough and calm (I had my incisors splinted and other teeth repaired after falling on my face), a follow up was arranged and i left by 11am. All in all, the thouroughness and quality of care was tremendous, I felt very well looked after and grateful. Yes, there's an early start and a wait, but worth it. Thank crikey for the NHS.
"Amazing staff and treatment"
