"Care at Local Hospice"

About: Kilbryde Hospice

(as a carer),

My dad has been attending the Kilbryde Hospice Day Care for an extended period of time. The care and attention he received was second to none from the staff to the volunteers they have been outstanding in their care for my dad, they became family to him and he loved attending the hospice on a Thursday he would often come home and tell me if all the stories if what he did at the hospice he shared his stories with the nurses all carefully typed out the evening before as he has lost most of his ability to speak due to having MND however despite not being able to communicate that well he always felt part of the group. He is now moving on to another long term Day care service however we will both greatly miss the Hospice for all the live care and attention given to my Dad. We both cannot praise the Hospice highly enough that you all do much we will definitely keep in touch with these amazing caring group of individuals.

Dear Lynnpinny

Thank you for taking the time to post your story on Care Opinion once more. As the Clinical Services Manager of our Day Services dept I am delighted to hear that your Dad received care that was " second to none" from the team. As your Dad had difficulties with his speech it is reassuring that he felt included in the conversation using means other than his voice.

Our Day Services staff and volunteers work hard to ensure patient receive the best care while at the hospice for the day. I will pass your very welcome feedback onto the entire team.

As you are aware our Day Service can only be offered for a limited period of time and I'm glad your Dad has an alternative day service now where his care can be continued for a longer period of time.

Wishing you and your Dad all the best in the future.

Kind regards

Margaret Mary Cowan

Clinical Services Manager
