"Poor care from multiple members of staff"

About: Colchester General Hospital / Gynaecology

Since giving birth Halloween 2018, I have had 2 visits to Stanway ward and 2 visits to gynaecology our patients. The level of care I have received has been awful. Having already had a scan at a community hospital, the 1st doctor I saw sent me for another scan as they couldn’t use the scan I already had causeing a lot more in needed pain, sent me home with painkillers and no follow up appointment. After having my scan I spoke to a dr who told me to come back to Stanway ward, I waited for 4 hours to be told the dr had already left 3 hours ago but no one informed me, just left me in the waiting room. I then saw and a&e doctor who wasn’t interested in the slightest and told me to just go home. After seeing my GP again was sent an urgent referral to the out patients department. Turned up in good time for my appointment, waited 1/2 an hour after my appointment time to then be told the doctor wasnt there and would be running too late to see me. No apology, seemed she was too busy to speak to me properly, when asked the doctors name, didn’t want to give it to me. Spoke to the senior nurse in charge who was unprofessional and rude. Laughed at my occupation and tried to grab my arm. Staff were rude, uncaring, unprofessional and extremely unhelpful at a time of great anxiety for myself. Would defiantly not recommend treatment in this hospital.

Thank you for leaving your comments regarding your treatment at Colchester hospital and I am sorry that this was not up to the standard expected. I have forwarded your comments onto the Head of Nursing for Women's and Children's services who would like to find out some information to be able to look into your comments further. Could you please give me a call on 01473 702101 at your convenience so I can arrange for her to call you at a suitable time. Many thanks Steve Bruce - Patient Experience Team
