I was admitted to Ward D5 after having had prostate surgery. It was a single sex mini ward with only 4 beds. I can only say that the staff were lovely, kind, considerate and helpful. They were friendly and happy to talk to you, although obviously not at the expense of their duties! They were clearly a team that got on with each other too as could be witnessed by the conversations when they were making beds for instance. I, personally, kept making a bloody mess of my bed but staff changed it quite readily. The food was remarkably good. The main evening meal was selected from various ingredients earlier in the day and arrived, still hot, at meal time with all the selected items. Considering that there had been a choice of 4 or 5 items on the plate, it must have been a very labour intensive and well organised system to create hundreds of meals in this way. Nobody really wants to go into hospital but my experience was first class.
"Excellent care"
