I visited Accident & Emergency because I had fallen down a staircase and hurt my knee. I had no swelling but because I have partial knee replacements, I wanted to make sure no long term damage had been done. From the start to the finish of my visit, I was delighted with the care shown. The triage nurse counselled that my case was arguable whether an A & E case but sent me to major injuries for assessment. The nurse in major injuries said I should really go to minor injuries but kindly made a judgement to process me through an. X-Ray, to avoid me having to walk backwards and forwards. I had my X-Ray and was then seen by a nurse practitioner in minor injuries. This nurse took time to discuss the X-Ray and discuss my feelings about the injury, as well as explaining numerous options going forward and gaining some input from orthopaedic experts. At all stages, I felt respected and that all staff were doing everything they could do to avoid me having to wait too long or be in discomfort. The care and respect of all of the staff I encountered shone through.
