"Failed it's patient."

About: Oak Street Medical Pract.

After my first appointment at Oak Street, during which the doctor finally began to resolve a 5 year heart burn problem by arranging medication, a stool sample and a follow up appointment, I updated my address.

My follow up appointment was 25 days later.

I called on the morning as I hadn't received the usual reminder text and couldn't access the online system. After a 10 minute wait and a call back I was told that I has been deleted as per a letter sent to my new and old address.

This letter was never sent. I have a redirect set up at my old address and I find it hard to believe that both letters got lost in the post. The far more likely explanation is that they weren't sent. This is more likely because I was told it was sent a week before I made the surgery aware I had moved.

It took three phone calls but the surgery remained committed to ensuring they failed my health in the strongest possible terms. As a result I couldn't attend my appointment, which meant I couldn't get a prescription. I will be without my medication until I can register and get an appointment with a new gp. The stool sample results are gone so I'll have to start at square one get my hiatus hernia sorted.

Oak Street is listed on the NHS GP finder website as in my area as its only 1.8 miles from my new house. The surgery claims they'll only service NR1, 2 and 3 however this is mentioned nowhere on their website.

Had Oak Street given me 30 days from the date I informed them I had moved I could have attended my appointment and handed over to a new GP without wasting more NHS time and without missing my medication. Oak Street is a badly run, disingenuous surgery which I would strongly recommend you avoid. Luckily a hiatus hernia isn't life threatening, however this could have been a very different story if I'd been diagnosed as diabetic or with a heart problem during that first appointment.
