I would like to thank all the midwives, doctors and theatre staff in the maternity and delivery suite at the hospital. I was given all necessary information to make informed decisions about having a caesarean, as my baby was breach. Although I was booked in to have a caesarean on the 18th March, my baby decided to arrive two days earlier than the scheduled day, and my labour was progressing fairly quickly by the time I arrived at hospital! The staff were very supportive and efficient when I said I would still like to go ahead with the caesarean if possible. They prepared me quickly for theatre, and also made sure my husband was well looked after. The theatre staff were fantastic and we had every confidence in them to deliver our daughter safely. I was in hospital for two days following the caesarean and all the midwives on the ward looked after me very well, especially those who had to give more intimate care, as I couldn't move easily for the hours following the operation. As we prepared to go home, I was given helpful advice on breastfeeding and looking after myself and the baby at home. All the follow up visits from midwives and the health visitor have also been good and I feel that I have been listened to and encouraged to ask questions about any concerns, as well as being given useful advice. As a first time Mum, I have had a wonderful experience so far with all the staff linked with the Royal Surrey County Hospital. I feel confident in the advice I have been given and my husband and I are enjoying getting to know our daughter. Thank you!
"Excellent care and advice"
