"Wonderful Seaford 2 Ward - Outpatient"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

My mother was referred as an outpatient following an emergency admission to A&E over the weekend.

I was concerned as we were unclear about the reason for the visit, didn't have a set appointment time and that a lengthy wait would be a problem for my mother who is frail and has dementia.

I should not have worried.

From the security guy who helped get her a wheelchair half way through our walk from reception and the lady who pushed her to Seaford 2 as we also had a mobilise walker as well.

From the happy smily HCAs, Reception Staff and Nurses - nothing was to much trouble.

My mother's BP etc were taken immediately and in no time at all she was whisked off for blood tests and an ECG.

We were then seen by the doctor straightaway.

He treated my mother with kindness and respect even though she could not always hear or understand him.

He answered any questions thoroughly and I did not feel that we were being rushed in any way.

Shortly after the doctor returned with a new prescription, discharge notes not only for her doctor, but copies for the care home and me.

Blood test results had been received and we were free to go.

We arrived in the department at 9am and left at 10.20 am.

A thoroughly impressive performance and I felt quite humbled by the treatment we had received.

Not all visits are as smooth as this and although it could be argued that they should we do not live in an ideal world.

I therefore thought it was right to leave a wonderful review and thanks as we are always quick to leave negative feedback.

Thank you again.
