"Excellent experience with day procedure in..."

About: Leeds General Infirmary / Cardiology

I was admitted for a planned catheter radiofrequency ablation. Preliminary appointment with consultant in outpatients then waited two months for the procedure, much shorter than I expected for a non-urgent procedure. Early morning admission handled efficiently, although because of early rush I had to change into my gown in the toilet, but not a problem really. I was fortunate to be first on the list, the consultant explained clearly what would happen in the consent procedure and then straight in to the catheter lab. The room is looking well used, and could do with an upgrade (relaxing pictures on ceiling?) but spotless clean. Efficient team prepped me and then the Senior Registrar, who had been introduced to me earlier, got to work. Procedure was a little longer than expected, 2 hours to stay still, but with drugs was not too uncomfortable, and a nurse was there throughout to check on me and reassure as necessary. Post-procedure was in spotless 6 bed room in L14 and absolutely happy with attention paid during 6 hour monitoring protocol. Only annoyance was constant warning alarms going off on monitors for nothing in particular. Clear advice and contact from both doctor and lead nurse before discharge. Very satisfied with the Yorkshire Heart Centre. Thanks!
