I brought my son up Sunday after he was elbowed in the mouth at football and had quite a nasty cut to his lip, I was told to treat it like an ulcer there was nothing that could be done and give him ice cream. When he woke up Monday I wasn't happy because it was quite a deep wound so took him to Macclesfield a and e who were brilliant they prescribed him antibiotics and sent pictures of his lip to children's plastic surgeons at Manchester children's hospital who after looking at them have operated on his lip to close the wound as they said it would never had healed properly on its own. It's a good job I didn't just follow the advice given here as my son could have ended up with an infected open wound that could of gotten worse.
