"Giving birth twice in Liverpool Women’s"

I have given birth to two babies in Liverpool Womens between 2017-2018. My first was an induction which resulted in a long stay in the post natal wing (side room). My second was a planned section followed by a one night stay on a ward. The experience of post natal care in both cases left me very dissaponted and upset.

It really depended on what midwife was on shift but the majority of Midwives I interacted with were very unavailable, stressed, unpleasant, making snide comments. I was laughed at for not being able to cope with the pain and told I was ringing the bell too much and I should be able to get up and down after a section (baby had reflux and was screaming non stop all night). Both times I was in the women’s I cried hysterically as the midwives (mainly the night shift ones) made me feel so bad about asking for help!

This is experience of mine is sadly shared by many women over Liverpool who I have spoken too. Something needs to be changed. A women is in such a heightened emotional state after having a baby, they need support / advice and most of all a friendly smiley face not a sour puss with awful bedside manner. Please use this feedback to do something about this poor experience that I faced on Mat base.
