I would like to thank all the midwives, doctors and theatre staff at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. I was very well looked after and felt that I was given necessary advice to make informed decisions about having a caesarean, as my baby was breach. Although I was scheduled to have a caesarean on the 18th March, my baby decided to arrive two days earlier! The staff were very supportive, as my labour was progressing fairly quickly by the time I arrived at the hospital, and once I said I would like to still go ahead with the caesarean if possible, they organised things very efficiently and quickly. I was prepared by the theatre staff and they made sure my husband was well looked after. We had every confidence in them to deliver our daughter safely. The midwives on the ward were also lovely, and I felt very well cared for, particularly by the midwife who had to give more intimate care, as I could not move easily for the hours following the operation. My daughter and I were checked on regularly and i was given sufficient pain relief to cope with the intense pain after the caesarean! I also felt supported with breastfeeding and ensuring my daughter was feeding well. As we prepared to go home, the doctor gave useful advice on looking after myself and my daughter at home. The follow up visits from midwives and the health visitor have been positive and I feel that I have been listened to and encouraged to ask questions about any concerns, as well as receiving useful advice. As a first time Mum, I feel confident in the support I have received so far and my husband and I are enjoying getting to know our daughter. Thank you!
"Excellent care and advice"
