"one man ruined the perfect team"

About: Leeds Dental Hospital

Hello there, I had a new patient appointment on the oral surgery department. The letter said it was with a certain person but I didn't see this chap after looking at the photos in reception. I saw a different man . Well I had a lump on my tongue and was there to tell him all about it. He wasn't interested. A lovely nurse shouted me into the room, well he was on his mobile phone and was texting. I sat down nervous and worried about cancer and he didn't acknowledge me he just carried on texting. I know these big important doctors are busy with patients and need to text other doctors but he could have said sorry. He repeated questions over and over about medical history due to him not listening and looked in my mouth for a second and then went back to the phone. The lovely young nurse talked to me because I became upset and worried. He was rude to her too the poor girl. After the appointment, I spoke to the nurse and asked her what was happening and if I would be okay. I know I should have told someone I wasn't happy but I am a nervous person and don't like to get people like doctors into trouble.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

I am very sorry to read that you had such a distressing time whilst at the dental hospital. The level of service that you have described is not what we wish to offer.

I have passed your comments onto the Manager for the service so that they can address the issues that you have raised.

It would be useful for our services and for future patients if you could discuss the matters you have raised further with our Trust’s Patient Advise and Liaison Service (PALS). This would also allow us look into the matters you have raised more thoroughly.

Please call our Patient Advise and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0113 206 6261 or alternatively email patientexperience.leedsth@nhs.net
