When I was first sent to the a&e last week by my GP, I had a very tight chest, breathless, vomiting, fever, increased pulse, muscle pain and dehydration.
During my first moment of stepping into the hospital i found i was treated fairly, taken quite quickly and all the staff were great.
However when i was admitted i was moved to the Acute emergency receiving unit. When first moved, all was fine, when the painkillers had worn off my fever come back so bad, no1 had returned for me to have these, so eventually after 45 mins of shaking, i called the nurse and asked for painkillers. They returned sat the cup with 2 painkillers on the table and walked away, I never had a drop of water to take them with.
I had to get up out of the bed and go look for something to drink which i ended up getting from another patient. I thought this was awful, i have never been treated like that by anyone in the Monklands, I felt like a burden and much against the doctors wishes I begged to leave the hospital, the thought of spending another night feeling like that when I'm so ill I really couldn't go.
I don't really like to complain, the thought of someone else having to feel how I did that night is what i want to help be avoided and this is why I'm telling my story.
