I arrived early for an appointment in Building One (MRI arrival 08:30), 29th March 0219. The notice on the external door stated that the doors would be open at 08:00. I sat on a nearby bench, and read a book. Absolutely no problem to me. A number of members of staff passed by me, on their journey to the side/back entrance - all greeted me with a "good morning".
At 07:40, a gentleman in a fluorescent jacket unlocked the main doors, and told me that I was very welcome to go into the building, and wait in the warm. I took up his offer and sat in the lobby. More staff went past me, most saying "hello". Some time later, the same gentleman cam back into Building One, carrying milk bottles. He stopped to tell me that Building Two was now unlocked, if I should need to be there for an appointment. I thanked him, and said that my appointment was for the MRI suite. I was provided with exact directions to get to the MRI Reception, and told that I could go there early, and wait until I was called.
This gentleman was kind, thoughtful, reassuring and had a ready smile - what a good start to my visit! The nurse who subsequently recorded my attendance in Reception and took me to the MRI scanner was equally kind, helpful and reassuring.
Please pass on my thanks, and let them know that they both made a very positive contribution to my hospital visit.
"Care and consideration"
