I was referred by my GP for an endoscopy. I was very nervous and anxious about attending.
However,I attended and went to the reception where I was greeted by a very nice helpful gentleman who booked me in. I then saw a nurse.
I was extremely anxious in fact terrified. The nurse was very friendly, kind and empathetic. She explained the procedure to me and kept reassuring me and allowed me to ask questions. She chatted about other things to try to relax me and make me feel calmer. I was then asked to wait in the waiting area until I was called. I was then called for the procedure. I became very anxious again. The 2 nurses and doctor were wonderful. They explained what was going to happen and took their time to ensure that I was ok to proceed. They were also very empathetic and reassuring. I opted for the sedation. When I woke up I could not remember anything. I was taken to the recovery area and discharged once the anaesthetic had worn off. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff on the endoscopy ward for making my experience a positive one. Thank you.
