About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as the patient),

I received excellent care throughout my pregnancy, labour and after my son was born as part of the better start team. I was definitely nervous at the prospect of labour but going to the hospital knowing the midwife who had cared for me throughout pregnancy was going to meet me there made the world of difference and really put my mind at ease. I had a really positive experience thanks to my midwife who I felt comfortable around and knew my medical history. It also was great that she did the after visits at my home because again she knew what had happened during my labour and the right questions to ask.

Thanks you for your kind comments following the birth of your baby son. I appreciate this is a busy time for you. I am glad that you found the care you received throughout your pregnancy and labour was excellent.

It was great to know that the although you were nervous at the prospect of labour the thought that you would be met at the hospital and would be cared for by the midwife who you already knew provided you with that reassurrance and put your mind at ease.

For you to receive all your care in labour and after the birth of your baby by the same midwife is all part of Best Start and I am delighted it was a positive experience for you.

May I take this opportunity to pass on my congratulations to you and your partner on the birth of your baby son.
