"Delivery of our third baby"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Obstetrics (Maternity care)

(as the patient),

I’d just like to share what a fantastic experience I had at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital in the labour ward on Saturday.

Upon arrival to the labour ward I was greeted by my midwife Nicky and student nurse Laura and was shown to my room. Both were so friendly and made me feel completely at ease. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Nicky was in the process of trying to arrange for me to move through to the midnive unit when I gave Laura a bit of a shock by delivering the baby very quickly. Laura coped incredibly well with my sons speedy arrival. I felt safe and secure in her care. She didn’t show any fear and appeared confident despite delivering my baby on her own. She is an excellent student and will no doubt make a superb midwife in the future. Her before, during and after care were incredible. Nicky was fantastic too. She is so friendly and incredibly easy to talk to and build an instant relationship with.  Nicky and Laura made a great team. Also have to thank our brilliant midwife Margaret for all the care you gave us before being discharged. You ensured we were discharged promptly and gave fantastic discharge advice. Thank you for all your care.

Dear cwalker,

Please accept my congratulations on the birth of your son and thank you so much for the lovely comments regarding Nicky, Laura and Margaret. They will all be delighted to know that you described your experience as fantastic, and you felt safe and secure. It is always reassuring to hear that the care they provided met you and your families needs.

I'm sure this will be a birth that Laura never forgets and will look back on this as one of the pivotal points in her student journey, that's once she gets over the shock.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your positive experience.

Kindest Regards

Liz
